IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Magistrate O. B. Osunsanmi of an Ikeja Magistrate court today remanded in prison custody a 21 year old man, Chiemezue Joseph for alleged armed robbery.
Joseph and others now at large were said to have attempted to rob one Sebastine Agosu. Joseph was alleged to have committed the offence on November 16, 2016 at Ilasamaja, Lagos.
The defendant was said to have in his possession one locally made Beretta pistol, one locally made double barrel pistol, one locally made single barrel revolver pistol and 12 live cartridges without license issued to him by the inspector General of police or any other appropriate authority.
According to the Prosecutor inspector Simon Imhowna, the offence is punishable under sections 297,296(1)(a) and 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011. The defendant pleaded not guilty but the plea was not taken. Magistrate adjourned the matter till May 18, 2017 for mention.
