MAN ARRAIGNED FOR STEALING CHURCH PROPERTIES WORTH N4.9M

IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – A 34-year-old man, Emeka Ogbonna was today arraigned before a Lagos magistrate’s court sitting in Ikeja on five count charge of burglary and stealing properties belonging to different churches worth N4, 920,000,000.




Prosecution, led by Inspector. N. peter told the court that the suspect committed the offence at different times, first in September 2017 at about 23:15hours at nom 49 sijuola street, Ago Palace Way, Okota Lagos, August 2017 at about 23:20hours, at No 174/178, Okota Road and May 2017 at about 23:45hours at 12, Fasheun Street, Ago Palace Way, Okota Lagos.

The prosecutor further told the court that the accused who is a business man was born and breed in isolo area of Lagos, broke into a building ordinarily used for religious worship belonging to the redeemed Christian Church of God Chapel of Grace Parish, Ago Palace way, Okota Lagos, Word Base Assembly Church of God situated at okota Lagos and Power Pentecostal church of God ,Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos with intent to commit an offence punishable under section 311 of the criminal law of Lagos of Nigeria 2015.

Peter said that, the suspect stole property value N370, 000,000 belonging to the Redeemed Christian Church of God, one set of Yamaha keyboard PSRS 710 valued N240, 000, 00 One set of mixer valued 35, 000, 00 and one set of amplifier valued N100, 000,

He was also alleged to have stolen Word Base Assembly Church of God property valued N4, 350, 000, 00 one set of motif and keyboard valued N1, 300, 000, 00.One set of Yamaha PSRS 2000 valued N7, 00, 000, 00 A set of GPR power amplifier valued N300, 000, 00 A set vsx speaker valued N500, 000, 00, Two set of CSR3000 Amplifier valued N600, 000, 00; a set crossoner processor valued N150, 000, 00 and two set of CS400 amplifiers valued N800, 000, 00.

It was recorded that Emeka, also stole 32 inches LG plasma television valued N200, 000, 00 in Power Pentecostal Church. Emeka ogbonna pleaded not guilty to the charges. Magistrate Mrs. Aje-Afunwa granted him bail in sum of N900, 000 with tax verification and adjourned the case till November 11, 2017 for mention.
