LASPA FAULTS HEALTH PLUS PHARMACY FOR MISINFORMING PUBLIC WITH VIRAL VIDEO
The attention of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has been drawn to a viral video circulated by Health Plus Pharmacy, located in Allen, Ikeja. The video is a deliberate misrepresentation of facts to whip up public sentiments against against government officials on lawful duty.
In order to set the records straight, the issues that led to clamping the tyre of the vehicle parked in front of Health Plus premises are detailed below;
- Lagos State Parking Authority is the regulatory body estabished to monitor private and commercial facilities to forestall indiscriminate parking along roads and setbacks in the State.
- In December 2022, the Authority issued demand notices for Y2023 parking levies to private and public corporate organisations, including Health Plus Pharmacy, and thereafter, circulated reminders that were duly acknowledged by defaulting organisations.
- Officers seen in the video were on a final visit to seek payment for legitimate levies due to the Lagos State Government. It is evident that the officials were non confrontational and professional in their conduct during the exercise.
- All demand notices served to the company and duly acknowledged are hereby presented to members as a display of transparency by our institution.
LASPA will not be deterred from performing its regulatory role by unpatriotic individuals who resort to misinformation and fake news in order to evade payment of taxes and levies due to the government.
For the avoidance of doubt, any individual found deliberately peddling falsehood to defame the officials of the Lagos State Government on monitoring and compliance activities will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Is a customer of corporate organisation infringe on any levies imposed by the government whilst parking to patronise the company? The government hasn’t got any excuse to clamp on vehicle rightfully parked and the government should deal directly with corporate organisation that breached the parking levies not the customer.
Very shamful, the space does belong to the government, it was created by the company to park customer car within their premises, the placed is not a public place nor does it constitute Obstruction to motirist, even as the so call law, when as it become the fault of the customer who came to buy drugs? why can the government officials make the place impossible to park or close down the place?
So the Rav 4 parked infront of the HealthPlus was branded car wt the inscription of the company that is owning the Government?
At a point in our life’s we should always be mindful of what we write when trying to put a rejoinder to a messed up situation….Can you scroll up and read the rubbish you just posted in trying to defend the nonsense you are doing….
Bank refused to pay tax and you locked every customers inside the Bank
Why not close of the parking space than clamping car parked, why do government organization always doing things backward .
Beautifully said
Very soon they will be taxing people for parking in their private home or sleeping inside their bedroom. Lagos and tax crazy, it was a lucky day for the customer, otherwise he/she would be forced to pay for the offense not committed. How did the customer contravene the law, now is it the customers that will pay the fee.
This is indeed a shameful response from this agency. Couldn’t there be a distinction between a defaulting corporate organization and an innocent customer and probably financially responsible citizen who pays tax regularly? You either shutdown the organization if permitted to do so, shut the car park and place a conspicuous default sign to guide an innocent customer.
I wonder the value of education in this incoherent response to the innocent customer of the company
She even said the agency was non confrontational and professional in their conduct, hmmm, professional indeed…….I thought we have intelligent and wise people occupying sensitive positions in government. What a shame!
It’s well known that head of ministries and agencies in Nigeria, especially in States will normally foolishly, embarrassingly or ignorantly, always try and defend their colleagues and, or members of staff whenever a shameful public display is committed. Reading the comments made by the GM, tells it all. She failed to show any iota irresponsibility or wrong doing of her staff, very shameful. If a corporate entity is owing you as a government, why should an innocent member of the public be chastised? The act is condemnable and gross irresponsible. An apology is expected from her and NOT bragging as a super Mario.
That is a typical ‘ to hell with all you ‘ response. Do they care? The poor have been pushed to a level that they will gladly collect half a cup of rice as palliative and vote against their conscience. Next is to beat the middle class to submission by killing their businesses and taking away their income with taxes and levies so they can toe the line of the poor
To my understanding it’s very wrong for government to collect money from someone else packing space if customers couldn’t park within the premises of the company do you want them to park on your head this is call cheating someone bought a land ,built his company on it and I the plan there is this parking space which rightfully belong to him on the same land not interrupting the movement of motorist on the major road and you still expect him to pay you ,shame on you all an the Lagos state government who you claim you’re working for
They will always have one or two things to say to defend their misdemeanor perhaps if the woman had not make noise the story will be different. I know one day all of us will learn to stand for justice and truth in this country and make right choices when the opportunity surface
Shameless Government,LASMA,VIO,LASPA,LAS this LAS that, all just to rip off the public.
All created with no proper monitoring and refused to listing to the public complaint rather they will be defending their curruption tendencies.
These are what Ambode refused to tolerate and they removed him.
Last election they nearly loose the state to the opposite party, just because of all this nonsense.
Next time, hope they will be so lucky.
Lagos state govt, only knows how to rob and extort Lagosians in the name of taxes. Soon, Lagosians will be made to pay tax with VAT inclusive to trek with their own legs on the street.. So, sad and disgusting!
Lagos state has no right to go to corporate business sites and ask for parking permit in their place of businesses. It is nothing but daylight robbery and absolute abuse of power. One company will be paying more than ten different taxes to Lagos state. Is that governance or robbery?
Silence would have been better than spewing out this stupid rebuttal. I shows the arrogance of people selected to serve the people. Nonsense
Truly u hav issue with organización nor the customer ,y clamping on customers car is very very wrong, wat if d customer needed a drug to save life at d moment dat govt officials clamp dere car wat did u tink could happen by den?so by doing dat dey might eventually lost a life.nigeria my country our country lets everyone of us behave well
If I may ask, how many places is a shop supposed to pay a tax? As in, I have a shop or say drug store or shop, I pay tax for selling drugs, pay tax on every staff, pay parking space tax on the same property that land use charge is paid being paid. E beru Olohun, shameless government
Actually the law doesn’t make any sense you pay tax and you still have to pay for parking space where your customers will park….pls if no customer patronise this outlet how will they pay tax….secondly not all law that work in abroad will work here. I think this law as to be review they are not causing obstruction on the road…
The commission should have put up a no park sign on the space, doing these would enact a positive response from the defaulted company, Instead of exposing an innocent client to unfortunate experience.
This is total rubbish and nonsense in the state control by agbero and what do you expect to be happening from them?
It is very bad to continue to double-tax citizens. Let me ask you is this what we voted for during election?lf it is election this kind of thing will not happen because it will affect their chances of winning. It is quite unfortunate that this kind of thing is happening in Lagos State. May God help us.
See Mumu talk, at te expense of walk in customers regardless of the customers state of health. if the phamacy default payment, the agencY sud go to court nd get order to seal the pharmacy. Civil servants actin like Agbero. Shame on all of You. Election time go reach, you go dey beg up and down..
This is a very disgusting reply from LASPA to justify the stupidity of their officials. Very soon we will have to be paying taxes for pedestrians crossing and breathing in Lagos State.
I still blame the citizens for absorbing and stay cool with any and every law introduce by the so to say Gov’t, Nigerians seems to be okay with everything send to them without any resistance, that’s cowardice. I don’t even thing they this kind of [ stupid ] law in the western world, our so call leaders just enjoy pushing us and we are cool and calm, our mumu never done.
It is clear from the response that this government only cares about money they want to get from the citizens and not their well being. This is a medical facility for crying out loud.
Even the date on the letter is incorrect.Lagos state official won’t write like that. This is 2023 not 2022
Lagos State should rather raise revenues by seeking more and more companies to come to the State, even from abroad. Increase in companies means increase in taxes.
Instead LASG is taxing or introducing permits on virtually every aspect on human existence. I recall they even wanted to tax boreholes during Ambode’s era but was opposed by the people.
Where else can a customer park his or car car if not in the premises of a business? Why should that law exist in the first place?
Lagos State is just enacting all manner of laws to extort money from people. A business has to pay levy to Government for parking on its premises? This is outside payment for Signage, business premises, radio and tv license, EIA, TA, LAWMA, Health etc. It is just too much. Lagos State should take equity stake in all businesses in Lagos so they can share profit directly.
I’m beginning to resonate with the idea of changing power from these Apc cohorts, and if this kind of aggressive behaviors towards citizens of lagos state, then i forsee a change of government soon.
They are carrying out the full course of their father, “*Widening the Tax Net, hence everything aspect of human existence in Lagos is the focus*”. So no cause for alarm, already Matching Ground levy is in existence but in the hands of untitled or uniformed officials who share or devour all collection to themselves, they are popularly known in Lagos as Agberos, they only thing remaining to pass it to state law then give them uniform, Hilux full with arm enforcement officers, what do we do, look and pass, if you questions the status, you will be advised to go to court, while in the court they will be there to defend their own. We are peaceful citizens what can we do, if you change your mind to go to the street, you will form part of the history as it is now at lekki poll gate. You recall that it is only the learned colleagues can come and see camera at the scene on the incident after a through check, cleanup has been done couple of days after the incident. Hmmmm, what do one expect this agency to say, the best rule to attack in the football field is to defend and get the ball back from your opponent. Posterity will judge us all in the world whether good or bad, It is well. May God bless us all. Amen.
