PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – Rivers United striker, Guy Keumian has returned to action after spending two weeks on the side lines. The attacker suffered a contusion of his right foot on 22 days ago during our Caf Confederation Cup game against Moroccan club FUS Rabat in Port Harcourt.

He has now resumed full training with ‘The Pride of Rivers’ and is available for the selection for our club’s domestic and continental matches.

Dr Chukwuemeka Agi, the head of our medical department, explained that initial scans conducted on the forward showed no extensive damage to his right foot.

“We had a scan and an X-ray on the affected area and saw that it was nothing more than a contusion of the right foot. The initial fear was that he had suffered a fracture as he had been unable to continue participating in the game and had to be stretchered off in the first half.

“He was out for 10 days and after initially using ice to stop the bleeding, and performing gentle physiotherapy on him, he has now returned to full action,” Agi explainee when discussing with our official website, www.riversunitedfc.com.

The medical chief also discussed the conditions of our midfielder Obomate Frederick, who failed to complete our penultimate Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game against Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja on 7 June, as well as veteran goalkeeper Sunday Rotimi, who suffered a hamstring injury in our CAF Confederation Cup game against KCCA in Kampala, Uganda, on June 3.

“Obomate felt dizzy in the second half after colliding with an opposition player and we knew we could not take any risks (with him).

“He is now back to full fitness and only missed out on the (NPFL) game against FC Ifeanyiubah (last Sunday) as a precautionary measure. Rotimi has a hamstring injury and will be out for two weeks.

“He has been placed on medication to stop the pain and he has already commenced stretching exercises,” he concluded. Rivers United return to domestic action when they face Lobi Stars in Makurdi on Friday before returning to Port Harcourt where they take on KCCA in the Caf Confederation Cup on 20 June.
