YENEGOA, Bayelsa, Nigeria – Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson has congratulated renowned journalist and a former Managing Director of Daily Times, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi as he clocks 70 today, April 13.
The governor while congratulating Ogunbiyi who is also the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Osun State said at 70 he has made his mark in all the fields he has found himself which includes, journalism, academia, publishing, amongst others.
Dickson in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson noted that Ogunbiyi is widely known for his fearless and objective reportage which has earned him accolades within and outside the country.
He recalled that as a founding member of the Guardian Newspaper, the erudite scholar used the paper to promote ethical standard in his profession and also pushed for a better society by keeping the government at that time alive to their responsibility.
According to him, the appointment of Ogunbiyi to head the governing board of the OAU was well deserved as his wealth of experience will be brought to bear in the institution.
While praying for God almighty to grant him more years to serve the country, Dickson also thanked him for impacting the knowledge he has gained over the years to those coming up.
