ARLINGTON, United States – Television presenter, Charlie Rose suspended by Columbia Broadcasting Service( CBS), Public Broadcasting Service( PBS) and Bloomberg over allegation of harassing eight women says he accept responsibility for his action.
Charlie Rose was suspended by the three stations where he presents a talk show programme when eight women alleged he sexually harassed them through inappropriate touches, fondling their breasts and walking about naked in their presence.
In a statement, Charlie Rose said he accepts responsibility for his action even though he believes not all allegations are accurate.
“I always felt that I was pursing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken”, he said of his excesses, adding that he is deeply embarrassed by his behavior and appologised to the women who were at the receiving end of his actions.
“ In my 45 years of journalism, I have prided myself of being an advocate for the careers of women with whom I have worked. Nevertheless, in the past few days, claims have been made about my behavior towards some former female colleagues.
“It is essential that these women know that I hear them and I deeply appologise for my inappropriate behavior. I am greatly embarrassed. I have behaved insensitively at times and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that, though, I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate. I always felt that I was pursing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken.
“I have learned a great deal as a result of these events and I hope others will too. All of us, including me are coming to a newer and deeper recognition of the pain caused by conduct in the past and have come to profound new respect for women and their lives”, he said.
