December 31, 2015 – For the young Director Radio BIAFRA and leader of the group agitating for Sovereign State of BIAFRA, Nnamdi Kanu, the roads would definitely be very rough going by the body language of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He would want to have him behind bars if he has his ways. Buhari who was speaking in his first media chat did not hide his feelings when it was brought to his notice that Kanu, like the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki was granted bail by a competent court but still held behind bars.

Buhari justified continued detention of Kanu on the fact that he carries a British and Nigerian passport on one hand and that he has also been charged with treasonable felony and hopes the court will act accordingly.

“’If you see the atrocity they committed and if they jumps bail, which country are you going to have. Treasonable felony against Kanu, hope the court will listen to it”, he said.

For him, there is no basis for any agitation, stressing that nobody has been marginalised. He said he only acted based on the constitution and went ahead to remind the agitators, that the minister of science and technology, education, minister of state for petroleum and Governor of Central Bank are all from the region that has had bulk of the agitation.

On crackdown on Shiites, he said, Iranian President, spoke to him on the issue and that he told him that there are ways of doing things.

‘’President of Iran spoke to me on it and I said we have our ways of doing things’’, he said, adding that the governor of Kaduna State has visited the area and that he is waiting for official report on the inquiry to make a statement on it.

He said that the capacity of Boko Haram to attack institutions has been stalled, adding that though metal detectors are now been used in parks, government may consider ban on use of Hijab if the trend of using girls with Hijab as decoy for bombing continues.

“Banning Hijab is not an option, but if the trend continues, we could consider ban on Hijab”, for security reasons.

He said he will only consider devaluation of the Naira on superior arguments, stressing that Nigeria is in bad shape. On forex and use of debit cards abroad, he said the ban becomes necessary to stop dubious people who are using it to transfer money oversea.

On students studying abroad, not able to pay fees due to the policy, he said, the minister of finance, that of educations and the governor of Central Bank will have to sit down and work out an arrangement for students affected to enable them finish their programme.
