Army: We killed 22 fighters: Boko Haram: we killed 40 soldiers




Nigeria, Sept. 26, 2016 – Not less than 30 people were killed as Nigerian soldiers and Boko Haram fighters engaged themselves in a free for all fight in Bama, Southeast of Maiduguri.

In a statement, Defense spokesman, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar said Boko Haram fighters numbering about a thousand ambushed a convoy of Nigerian soldiers.

The onslaught, we gathered lasted for about an hour leaving eight soldiers and 22 fighters dead.

Earlier in the day gunmen attacked an army position at Logomani, 110km northeast of Maiduguri city, killing four soldiers, it said.
It said that the Boko Haram fighters launched the attack with rockets and hand grenades adding that a number of unexploded grenades were also recovered from the scene.

However, the BBC reported that Boko Haram has claimed that more than 40 soldiers from a multinational army were killed in just one attack last week.
