US, June 30, 2016 – A 38 year old cyclist has been killed by a grizzly bear outside the Glacier National Park, a policeman in the northern US state of Montana has said.

The victim who was killed on Wednesday is said to be an office with the US Forest Service, Flathead Country Sheriff Chuck Curry told Daily Inter Lake.com.

The police also told the online medium that armed police officers are searching for the bear but gave no further details. The Glacier National Park was created in 1910 and since then only 10 attacks by grizzly bear have been recorded.

Officials say the grizzly beer confronted two cyclists on a trail after they disturbed the animal. The dead rider was said to have been snatched from the saddle by the angry bear and the other rode off to get help.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service recently announced plans to remove grizzly bears from the threatened species list.
