Lagos, Nigeria, February 13, 2016 – At least two people have been confirmed dead and properties worth several millions destroyed when fire burnt down about 76 shops in Lagos State.

Speaking on the incidents, Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Engr. Rasaq Fadipe said among the dead was a woman in his 80s who was roasted when fire consumed her duplex situated at 25, Wasinmi Street, Maryland, Lagos, while the other was a man recovered dead from a deep well at AIT road, Alagbado, Lagos.

He said the 76 shops were burnt in two places in the Lekki and Victoria Island axis.
According to him, 70 shanty shops were burnt at Small Kuramo Beach, while six other shops were razed at Nigerian Air Force(NAF) Medical Centre in Mammy Market.
He said his men responded to 12 incidents on Friday.
