January 14, 2016 – Alan Rickman, who played Professor Snape in Harry Porter film is dead. He was 69. He died in London.

His family members told the Guardian that he has been suffering from cancer. Rickman has featured in a number of films among which is Sardonic by Bruce Willis and Die Hard.

He was also in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, where he played sheriff of Nottingham and Rasputin in an acclaimed 1995 HBO film among others.

In 1995, he debuted as a director with Thompson and her mother, Phyllida Law and the Scottish drama, The Winter Guest. An actor for so many decades, Alan Rickman started his carrier on stage.
