January 7,2016 – The Nigerian Film Industry, otherwise called Millwood is now number two among nations known for making films, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said.

Managing Director, IMF, Ms. Christine Lagarde made the revelation while addressing the National Assembly during her four days working visit to Nigeria.

Although the IMF boss did not list the nations by ranking, we gathered that Nigeria has beaten the United States to the second place after Bollywood(India) which is number one by output. The latest ranking according to IMF is based on output.

“Think of the vibrant, home-grown film industry that has become the world’s second-largest by output’’, she affirmed, stressing that Nollywood employs about one million people who ‘create films that are winning audiences across the continent and beyond’, she said.

Nollywood according to her is innovating start-ups—from fashion to software development—that are promoting Brand Nigeria.

“Indeed, the growth in services to about half of Nigeria’s output is a testament to the transformation that has begun, and which needs to continue’’, she noted, adding that achieving inclusive growth based on its recommendations http://lml.dyi.mybluehost.me/2016/01/06/imfs-apc-for-nigerias-headachewill lead to economic boom.
