September 4, 2015 – An anti-corruption group, Zero Corruption Coalition (ZCC) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo for making public their asset.

The group also called on prospective appointees and members of the National Assembly to also follow suit by making public their asset in line with the President’s comment and Freedom of Information Act, FOI Act.

“We urge you to also encourage members of your party who are principal officers of the National Assembly and other members in the 8th National Assembly to as well do so.

“ ZCC therefore, encourages President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure, that these requirements are also made applicable to all appointments made by his party at the level of the States and Local Government Council Areas under the control of your party (the All Peoples’ Congress – APC), including the leadership of the State Houses of Assembly, amongst others.

“ZCC and all relevant anti-corruption movement shall keep watching quite keenly and would not hesitate to follow up with this administration on the issue of asset declaration’’, the group said.

It described the development as a boost on the anti-corruption struggle in Nigeria and  that this must be sustained as it brings moral superiority for the president to deal with anti-corruption issues.

“ZCC commends this initiative of Mr. President for his resilience in keeping the faith, having a firm belief in his vision of leadership for our dear country, anchored on ridding the country of corruption”, the group said in a statement signed by its Programme Officer, Mr. Lukman A. Adefolahan
