September 2, 2015 – Lagos West Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the last general election, Mr. Segun Adewale, alias Aero has tendered an unreserved apology to the National Assembly Election Tribunal headed by Justice S. C. Oriji.

Adewale had in letter dated 8th July, 2015,made comment on alleged missing document in the case between him and the Lagos West Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC), Mr. Solomon Olamilekan alias Yayi which the tribunal found to be offensive.

But in a letter to the tribunal through his lawyer, Mr. Oladotun Hassan, the PDP candidate apologised for the content of the letter and also pleaded the indulgence of the tribunal to withdraw the said letter before tendering a letter of appreciation to the tribunal.

He said the apology becomes necessary since parties to the case have come to terms with.

Excerpts from the letter states: “In the letter dated 8th July, 2015 which we did not mean to bring the good image of the court to disrepute nor engage the aftermath error of the misinformation received and causing the embarassement to the court.

“We humbly appeal and sincerely apologise to Your Lordship, The Court, The Councels to all the parties, and all concerned parties to the matter for forgiveness”, the letter said in part.

The PDP candidate also expressed appreciation to the tribunal for granting him pardon in the said case.

“With sublime respect and utmost sobriety, I am full of appreciation to Your Lordship’s magnanimity and compassionate pardon on the committal proceeding in the ongoing tribunal matter sitting before Your Lordships between ‘Mr. Segun Adewale, Senatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Vs Hon. Olamilekan Solomon Adeola Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC) both of Lagos West Senatorial District at the 2015 National Assembly Election’.

“I am indeed very grateful and promised to make good use of Your Lordship’s worthy advice”, the letter said in part.
