July 29, 2015 – The pioneer Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Mr. Charles Dorgu, has charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), not to drag  President Muhammad Buhari, into plot to rig the forth coming governorship polls, stressing that the president is “too busy and decent to manipulate the election.”

Dorgu who was one of the founding fathers of the PDP, said although Buhari and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC has the political right to come to Bayelsa and assist in the campaigns ahead of the Election, the clamour by the APC for the use of Federal Might against the PDP with deployment of Federal troops to Bayelsa State “will only promote anarchy and confusion.”

While sounding the warning in Yenagoa, he the Federal Government and Buhari should not have any business in the forceful change of political structure in the State, to avoid anarchy.

“The Federal Government has no business in destabilising the State. If they are interested in the Governorship election, they should liase with those giving them false claims and engage in political campaigns. Buhari is too busy and decent to engage in illegality and fraudulent change in the power structure of the State, if those people involved in blackmail and name dropping want to know, Buhari will not do it. They are dreaming.”

Dorgu noted that political campaigns in the state have gone beyond blackmails, desperate defections and propaganda.

“PDP has been playing grassroots politics at the inception, while other political parties were busy making noise in Yenagoa. PDP went into the communities. The people looked at our pedigree and saw what we have done. The chances of the PDP is very bright in the Governorship election. The job of the PDP has been made easy by Governor Seriake Dickson due to performance. Dickson has shown commitment to development and youth empowerment. For the first time, the State had a direction”, he stated.

He also spoke on the rising opposition within and outside the Party against the State Governor.

Dorgu said though the misunderstanding among PDP members in the State would soon be resolved,

“Those who are angry with the Governor because he is not sharing money or allowing them have their ways are not serious. People in opposition, claiming that Dickson must go because they are not having their ways are not serious. They get me angry. Do they know he (Dickson) is sitting on public funds?

“Several of those people who call themselves politicians are not. In terms of philosophy, they are not. These people defecting are on the same level. If they are now talking about corruption, they are more corrupt. Even if we cannot indict them ourselves, we know them. These people have ruled the State in the past and we know them.”
