July 29, 2015 – The chairmen of state chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a party filled with propagandists and talkative members.

The PDP state chairmen were reacting to the remarks of an APC chieftain, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo, who was quoted to have said that a Minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan of PDP stole $6 billion as revealed by US officials during the recent visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the country.

In a statement issued in Abuja by the Chairman of Conference of PDP State Chairmen, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, they wondered why Oshiomhole at his level would be engaged in making careless and baseless utterances all in a bid to unnecessarily demonize the Jonathan administration and those that worked under him.

They however said they were not surprised by Oshiomhole’s comments because, according to them, APC has always been known for nothing else other than propaganda.

Agbo who is the chairman of Benue State PDP said: “We view statements of 6 billion dollars theft credited to Adams Oshiomhole as very unfortunate as leaders at his level shouldn’t be suffering from diarrhea of the mouth. It is unfortunate that what we have in the hierarchy of the APC are irresponsible and politically irreverent talkatives and propagandists.  That it takes America and American officials to reveal such monumental theft and it was unknown to the APC government until the American trip clearly shows the ineptitude of the APC government.”

The PDP state helmsmen also in a statement commended the party members in the Senate for the act of patriotism, maturity and respect for the supremacy of the party displayed in the election of their leaders.

“We congratulate Senator Godswill Akpabio, Senate Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Philip Aduda, Minority Whip and Senator Biodun Olujimi, Deputy Minority Whip for their election as leaders of our party in the Senate. Onto them much has been given, I have no doubt in my mind that the desire much expected of them by Nigerians will be delivered by them as their elevation to the various positions of honour by their colleagues is a clear testimony of their worthiness, character, leadership, charisma and humility.

We commend the maturity, understanding and cooperation of our members in the Red Chamber in allowing the supremacy of the party to prevail,” Agbo said in the statement issued on behalf of the state PDP chairmen.
