March 4, 2015 – Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul Orhi has advocated death penalty for any anybody caught trafficking in drugs and related items.
Orhi made the declaration while parading a fake clearing agent and a trader who specializes in sales of counterfeit drugs in Ketu, Lagos State.
He said that some of the shops used by the counterfeits are domiciled in Ketu area and called on Nigerians to be vigilant and report suspected peddlers of fake drugs to the authority.
Orhi also called on landlords to find out about the business of their prospective tenants.
“You are supposed to know who you are renting your building to”, he said and called on Nigerians to always make use of the authentication codes on drugs so as to be able to ascertain if the drug in their hands in genuine.
