March 3, 2015 – Petroleum and Product Marketing Company (PPMC) has said that about 1 billion litres of Premium Motor Sprit (PMS) otherwise called fuel is being expected in Nigeria in the next few days.

Managing Director PPMC, Mr. Haruna Momoh made the declaration when he paid a courtesy call to the Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) , Dr. Joseph Dawha in Abuja.

He said the products is being expected in the country in the next few days and attributed the current scarcity to delay in making payment to marketers by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) due to recent depreciation of the Naira.

He said the scarcity will be reduced by Friday.

However, during a scheduled visit to selected petrol stations in Abuja, officials of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) threatened to shut down petrol stations that have the products but have refused to sell the product to Nigerians.

DPR also threatened to mobilise law enforcement officers into petrol stations hoarding the product and force them to sell to members of the public.
