February 27, 2015 – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Taraba State, Mr. Darius Dickson Ishaku is battling to retain the party’s ticket over allegations that leadership of the party plans to change him since he is not popular among voters in the state.

According to sources, Darius has concluded plans to deceives the party’s leadership by stage-managing a series of protests at the PDP National Headquarters in Abuja.

We gathered that the plan is been carried out  by the Chief of Staff to the state acting governor, Aminu Jika who has been recruiting and contacting various youths and interest groups both in Abuja and Taraba for the protests scheduled to hold Saturday or next week.

Member of  PDP in Taraba State, Mr. Ahmed Isa said the main aim of the protests is to deceive President Goodluck Jonathan,  the PDP leadership and the world that  he is accepted to the people of the state.

“Jika has been running around using state funds to ensure PDP and Jonathan losses Taraba state, our people have severally rejected Ishaku, the PDP had sent an underground team to ascertain whether or not he is popular, but the reverse is the case. And should we go ahead with him President Jonathan and PDP will lose Taraba to the opposition party.

“We need a popular candidate that would emerge through a primary as stipulated by the electoral laws, no primary was held by the duly elected delegates. Other aspirants have gone to court to challenge him.

“Ishaku is scared of primary election because he knowns he’s not on ground, he was never a PDP member in Taraba state and would stop at nothing to ensure he did not face a credible primary with other aspirants.

“We hope its not too late for the PDP to do the needful, that is to correct the illegality, an illegality would always remain an illegality, a stage managed protest can never authentic it,” Isa said.

The National Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP had earlier declared that it’s yet to have a governorship candidate in Taraba State .

PDP Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus said the party was yet to present or elect any candidate for the Taraba state governorship election.

Secondus said until all issues revolving round the crisis in Taraba PDP were resolved, no candidate will emerge.

However, various interest groups have continued to call on the PDP leadership and President Jonathan to drop former Minister, Darius Ishaku as the PDP flag bearer.

Ishaku was allegedly selected in Abuja by some stakeholders and Taraba born Elder Statesman, Gen. TY Danjuma.
