January 27, 2015 – A group, Bayelsa Youth Vanguard has commended a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Chief Dan Etete for warning the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan to desist from sabotaging Governor Seriake Dickson’s administration in the state.

Etete had over the weekend in Yenagoa, accused Mrs Jonathan of working against the Dickson administration with a view to replacing him with one of her political godsons.

The Spokesperson BYV, Precious Ebi Johnson, in a statement saluted the courage of the former minister for “speaking the minds of the majority of well-meaning people of Bayelsa State.

“We salute the courage of a very distinguished son of Ijaw land and former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Chief Dan Etete. We call on all well-meaning Ijaw leaders to take a cue from Chief Etete and speak up on this cancerous evil which is eating up our beloved First Lady.

“This is not a time to keep quiet. This is not a time to pretend that all is well. How can all be well when the fixation of our First Lady isn’t how her husband will win the very tight presidential race, but how to upstage Governor Dickson for self-serving reasons.

“As leaders of thought and the conscience of the Ijaw nation, it is important for our leaders to speak out with one voice in condemning the excesses and needless show of power by the First Lady.

“This is important to save our dear state from a very avoidable political crisis, an inevitable descent to lawlessness and anarchy. The least all lovers of Bayelsa State, indeed the Ijaw nation can do is to call the First Lady to order,” stressed the group.

“We urge all well-meaning people to support the Dickson administration to protect the collective interest of the Ijaw nation,” stressing, “it is important for Bayelsa, the only homogeneous state for the Ijaw to remain peaceful.

“This is imperative as Bayelsa is greater than any individual, least of all the First Lady. We owe our founding fathers the duty to ensure that no one person holds Bayelsa State to ransom and help ensure that the state truly becomes the glory of all lands.”
