November 26, 2014 – Son of Former Prime Minister of Nigeria, Dr. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa has withdrawn his candidacy from contesting primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) coming up later on in the year.
Balewa announced his withdrawal from the race after undergoing screening by the Ahmadu Ali-led 10 man committee in Abuja.
“After the grilling, I have decided to withdraw from the race now in the interest of the party. I hope to see you some other time”, he said, adding that he is a strong member of the PDP and will continue to remain a strong member of the party.
Also Speaking, Ali said Balewa decided to drop his ambition after the screening. Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan was also screened by the party was presented a certificate of clearance at the end of the exercise.
