October 29, 2014 – A 32 years old man, identified as Kelechi Emeri who specialises in selling pornographic films and other offensive materials in a motor park has been arrested in Lagos.

We gathered that the suspect who hails from Abia State was nabbed by officials of the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit at Obalende Motor Park where he was selling the offensive materials.

He was said to have been arrested when an official of the agency disguised and purchased four pornographic films from the suspect to ascertain the owner of the thriving business only for him to confess that he indeed sold pornographic DVDs to the public, saying he usually sells 10 of such DVDs in a day.

“I do sell pornographic materials, but I don’t display them for the public to see. This is not the first time the police have come here to disturb us. They have warned us that if we must sell, we should not displace them. I always put them inside my bag.

“It is my neighbour who owns the ones that are on display. They are not mine. I used to sell my own N100 per copy and I used to buy them from Alaba and Idumota. I normally sell around 10 DVDs in a day. I know it is bad to sell them, I wanted to stop the business but people always ask for them.”

Confirming his arrest, the Taskforce Chairman, Bayo Sulaiman decried the practice of selling such offensive materials .
“We actually sent our operatives to purchase the materials and four DVDs were sold to us, but we got him arrested. We are going to charge him to court because such items should not be displayed in public places.

“We are going to step up our enforcement in Motor Parks because students may want to board their vehicles in these parks and they are not supposed to see things like these. Even on Tuesday morning, the leader of the park warned him to stop selling the materials.

“It is illegal for people to sell pornographic materials in public and they should desist from such act and if they do not desist from such act, we will seize their materials and arrest them.”
