Lagos Donates N50 Million to First Consultant Hospital as Business Support

October 20, 2014 – The Lagos State Government on Monday donated N50 million to First Consultant Medical Centre as a form of business support to assist the organisation to bounce back to business.

At press conference addressed by Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, that of Special Duties, Dr. Wale Ahmed, and that of Information and Strategy, Mr. Remi Ibirogba, the Lagos State Government said the money is not compensation but to support the establishment.

“This is with a view to getting people /business back on their feet and for business to re-secure patronage of their customers”, Idris said, adding, “ this is not an attempt at compensation but a gesture of goodwill on the part of government”, he said.

The Commissioner added that victims of the ailment will also be assisted in due course.

He said that about 28 residents of Lagos State has indicated interest in going to Sierra Leone to assist in combating Ebola Virus Disease adding that though the Federal Government is responsible for coordinating mission, Lagos State is however ready.

“I use this medium to urge and encourage private organisations who wish to join in this good work to come on board. This is the time to do so, especially those that had earlier indicated interest or made pledges”, he said.

He said that Lagos State Government in conjunction with the Federal Government plans to upgrade it with modern facilities to accommodate a department of virology among others.
